7 Months Old!

It seems like she's on a race to get to her first birthday, doesn't it?! As I watched her fall asleep on her own today, during her naptime, I realized that my baby really is growing up. While she prefers to have me rock her to sleep, she doesn't NEED me to anymore. One of the things that I've really been struck by lately is how they go from being COMPLETELY dependent on you to meet their every need to slowly weaning themselves and becoming able to do things on their own. I know this will continue for the rest of her life, and I also knew it would happen, but it is a very strange, sad, and satisfying feeling experiencing it from the parenting side of the spectrum.

So, Logan, you are SEVEN months old today! What are you up to?!

- You are 18lbs 11oz and 26 inches long.

- You are wearing size 3 or 4 diapers (when you're not in cloth) and have actually moved into pampers cruisers and are no longer small enough to wear their swaddlers anymore! (mommy almost cried when she made this discovery)

- You can go from a sitting to a crawling position on your own.

- You can crawl...only you do it backwards and don't get very far before looking up at mommy or daddy and wanting one of us to move you.

- You have just learned the "ma" sound and say it over and over and over and over again during the day. I know you don't know that "mama" means me, but it just melts my heart when I hear it. Just this morning you started saying it to get my attention so I think you're starting to get it.

- You take two naps a day, one in the morning for an hour or two and one in the afternoon for two or three hours. You're a pretty good napper and when you're not--well, we try not to get there.

- You're not sleeping through the night yet, still waking up once after about 5 hours for a quick snack and then back down for the rest of the night. I consider us blessed because I've heard of several other mommy's who are up a lot more than I am with you. I also know that one day I'll look back on our "special times" and smile, so, I try and treasure them.

- You love to read...well, be read to. You sit and listen and watch the pictures. Your two favorite books are "Moo, Baa, La la la" and "No, No, Noah!" We read "Moo, Baa, La La La" probably 50 times a day and we read "No, No, Noah!" every night before bedtime.

- You can fall asleep on your own. You started that yesterday, actually. I've rediscovered the miracle of the swing and in a last stitch attempt to stay sane yesterday (when you wanted no nap), I stuck you in there and you gladly fell asleep on your own. I've started using that to wean you from falling asleep in my arms and also am using it to get you used to sleeping in your own room.

- You're eating a bit more solid food. We've got you eating about 3 times a day. You eat yogurt in the morning, fruit in the afternoon and a veggie at dinner. Right now you love: sweet potatoes, yobaby yogurt (banana is your favorite), bananas, butternut squash and peaches. You like: pears, apples, and yellow squash. So far this month, we haven't found any more food that you hate.

- Your favorite toy this month is your taggie ball. Mommy got it for you in hopes that you'd use it to learn how to crawl. So far, when you roll it away from yourself, you look from the ball to whatever adult is around until they help you get it back, but you've started to get into your crawl position in effort to go retrieve it.

We love you SO much! I was just thinking this morning about how truly blessed I am to have such a wonderful little girl and can't wait to continue to watch you grow up (just not too fast!).

6/7 month well baby

Yesterday we went in for L's 6 month well baby appointment. We seem to be a bit off on the timing of the appointments (4 month well baby happening when she was 5 months, 6 month well baby happening 3 days before she turns 7 months). Anyway, she's doing wonderfully! Here's the rundown:

-She's a VERY HEALTHY 18lbs 11oz and in the 80% for her weight (not surprised, she's a lot harder to lift out of her carseat and that's how I've gauged when she's gaining weight). The Dr. made sure to give me a "go mom!" for keeping up the nursing, even though she's eating a couple things of babyfood a day, most of her nutrition is still coming from me.

- She's 26 in. long and in the 55% for that.

-For head circumference she's in the 75%.

All in all, she's developing just perfectly. He was very surprised to hear that she's already trying to pull up on things and that she actually does get places when she tries to crawl (even though she gets there backwards...minor detail). We love our new pediatrician, he's very nice and is so wonderful with her. She was all smiles for him, which, I'm sure she won't be next time because we'll be going in for shots...ick. Here are the pictures from the day:

This is quite possibly my favorite time of day with L. She's SO PRECIOUS in the morning. Sweet and snuggly and happy as a clam. She'll laugh and smile at anything during the first couple of hours she's awake. Not to mention that I have a slight obsession with footed pj's, there is just something incredibly sweet and innocent about them.

Logan was much more interested in the paper on the table in the Dr.'s office than she was with all of the toys they had for her to play with. She spent quite a while just crumpling and pulling at it.
And then proceeded to cover her head with it which she's in the process of doing in this picture.

Then we had a relaxing afternoon at home. We played with our toes and read books, which she's very into right now. She'll sit and listen and look at the pictures for hours if you read to her.
Logan finally is starting to get the hang of this "say cheese!" thing. Every once and a while she'll see you pull the camera and she'll ham it up for you. We love her!

Logan Laughing With Daddy

Please pardon my extreme shrill and annoying voice, we were having a lot of fun with this and I got excited. This is the tail end of the game we were playing with her. She actually was entertained and laughed for 5 minutes before we pulled the camera out, and sure as the sun rises in the east, that was the end of it.

I smell T-R-O-U-B-L-E

Nope, toys are just not good enough for this little rascal. The other day she decided she didn't like the way her diaper bag was organized and was sweet enough to take everything out so I'd have to RE-organize it. Thanks Logan!

Our little exhibitionist

Last night, I walked away while Logan was playing on the floor for a minute to check dinner and I came back and found this sneaky face:
Yes, those bloomers that are next to her were indeed on her body when I left. I have no earthly idea how she got them off, but she surely did.
And then she began to swing them around her head. Don't worry, I've already scheduled the "when on spring break in Panama City, it is inappropriate to take off your undergarments and swing them wildy around your head" talk. :)

A Day In The Life

Welcome to a day in the life of Logan! Let me tell you, she's got it rough...

She wakes up at 7:45am and snuggles with mommy until 8:30. After we get up, we head to the kitchen and have a nice breakfast together (sometimes, daddy even gets to join us!).

After breakfast is cleaned up, L and I head to the living room where she gets to have tummy time! She's very close to becoming a crawler, so I'm sure that soon enough, tummy time will be a distant memory and I'll be running around like a crazy woman trying to keep things out of her reach.
Logan is very curious and loves to be on her tummy now that she can push herself up and she's not stuck just lying around. She loves to play, especially with her keys.
But, sometimes tummy time wears her out and I'll find her in this position:

And then I know it's time for a change. So, then we start mommy and baby pilates! Don't let this picture fool you, she really does enjoy it, it just happens to end right before naptime so she's usually just a bit cranky when we're finishing up.
After a morning full of activity, L crashes for a good 3 hour nap in the morning.
When she wakes up, we change her clothes and head back to the kitchen for lunch. Logan's new favorite thing to do is tilt her head (and sometimes her entire body) to the side and look at you sideways. This is a very cute trick when you're not trying to put food in her mouth, otherwise it becomes quite a mess!
After lunch, we clean up and get ready for the rest of our day. Logan is such a happy camper after a good, long nap and some yummy food.
Usually, this is when we run an errand or two. I have to time it just perfectly so that we don't run into her second nap because if she falls asleep in the car then we totally lose that naptime and by 5pm we're ready to poke our eyeballs out with the whining and fussing.

Logan is a good traveler in the afternoon, she sits (with her shades on) in her little carseat and plays with whatever she can get her hands on. Lately, her favorite car toy is a water bottle (oh, the things that amuse a baby).
When we get home, we both usually go down for a short afternoon nap and then get up and get ready for daddy to get home. Here's our sweet baby watching me make dinner:

Wedding Pictures

Ok, another post full of pictures.

Mike, L and I before the wedding. :)
John and my parents, pre-wedding.
L and John. Logan has this new face that she makes (almost all the time) where she purses her lips and just observes what's going on around her. This picture doesn't do the look justice, it's hilarious.
Logan and her great grandpa who introduced himself the entire night as "great grandpa", even when she wasn't around him. We loved it! She loves him so much.
Logan and mommy minutes before the ceremony.
Logan and her daddy. She spent the entire wedding with him and was such a good girl the entire time. She's been so attached to me lately that we were worried she'd throw a major fit when I was up in front but she had a GREAT time with her dad and they got some quality time together.
Here's the bride, Lindsey, getting her hair done before the ceremony.
Logan and her Tita playing a game pre-ceremony.
Logan and her great grandma.
Titi Carolyn after the ceremony watching the happenings.
Such a sweet little head.

I love these pictures so much, they get their own post

In front of the stadium, they have a BEAUTIFUL little area with crimson and white flowers. Logan's clothes matched perfectly and we happened to have a little blanket to set in the middle of the area so that we could snap some pictures of her in them. These are just a few of them, we took a bunch more with a much nicer camera and I'm getting those pictures via email and I'll post them as soon as I get them. :)

Pre-Wedding Activities

Whew! There is an image overload in this post so I'm just going to give the play-by-play through captioning the pictures.

The weekend started on Friday night at Dreamland, a small but incredible rib restaurant. We ate there with my brother, his fiancee, my parents, sister, grandparents and aunt. It was a great time!
Logan has the strange idea that anything I touch also belongs to her. She has lately started trying to drink my drinks along with me as if they are hers (of course, unless it's water, none of it gets in her system for those of you worried she was getting a good swig of diet coke here).
Then on Saturday morning, we dressed L up in her crimson and houndstooth gear and headed to the University of Alabama to show her where her Titi Carolyn and Uncle John go to school.
We, of course, had to take her to the stadium so she could see where the football is played. (I'm standing behind her holding her back, you just can't see me)
Titi Carolyn, Logan and Mommy.
Then we changed into our party clothes and headed off to Aunt Lindsey's shower that afternoon. Logan was in such a wonderful mood!
Mommy and Logan getting ready for the shower.
Logan's Nana and Grandaddy bought her this sweet sundress at the university bookstore and we used the shower as the opportunity for her to wear it. Doesn't it look precious? She'd fit right in on campus, don't you think?!
And just when you thought Logan was done changing clothes for the day, we hit a THIRD outfit! This time we were headed to the rehearsal dinner.
Logan wasn't in the mood to cooperate for a picture to show off her sweet dress. For the many of you who have asked, her hair does actually have a tinge of red in it (as you can see in this picture), we think she's going to be a little strawberry blonde sweetheart.
Logan and her Uncle John, the groom.
Here's my brother, John, with all of his girls. Me, my mom, L, Lindsey and Carolyn. The rehearsal dinner was so much fun and we shared such a great time with both family and friends. Later 15 of us fell ill with food poisoning from that night, but I still hold fond memories from the actual event.
